Something not working, or a question the app does not answer? Write to hello.herekorea@gmail.com and a person will read it.
Reporting someone takes priority. If a post, a message or an account needs looking at, use the report control inside the app rather than email — it tells us exactly what you are reporting, and those are read first.
Getting in
Who can sign up
HereKorea is for foreign residents of Korea. Signing up needs a Korean mobile number and a photograph of your Alien Registration Card. Korean citizens do not hold one, and the app has nothing for visitors — a tourist has no residence card to show.
My account still says it is being reviewed
A person checks every residence card, so it is not instant. If the photograph is sharp and the whole card is in frame this is usually quick. If it has been longer than a couple of days, email us with the phone number you signed up with.
My card photograph was rejected
The app lets you send another one. The usual reasons are glare across the card, a corner cut off, or a picture too small to read the details. Lay the card flat, fill the frame, and avoid shooting directly under a light.
I cannot log in
Log in with the phone number you signed up with, not an email address. If the password is gone, use Forgot password on the sign-in screen — it sends a code by text to that number. If the number itself is no longer yours, email us.
Using the app
Nobody can message me out of nowhere
That is deliberate. A conversation from someone you have not spoken to arrives as a request and stays out of your inbox until you accept it. Until then they can send three messages and no more.
Blocking
Blocking someone cuts contact both ways: neither of you can write to the other, neither appears in the other's feed, and any follow between you is removed. Messages already exchanged stay readable — a block stops what happens next rather than editing the past.
Roommate listings
Listings are written by other members, not by us, and we do not check them. Nothing about a verified account makes a deposit safe. See the flat, read the contract, and never send money for a place you have not stood inside.
Your account and your data
Deleting your account
Settings → Delete account. It removes your posts, messages, listings and residence card photograph. It cannot be undone, and we cannot restore an account after it is gone.
What happens to my residence card photograph
It is used to confirm you live here and for nothing else. It is never shown to other members. The privacy policy sets out how long it is kept and who can see it.
